Industrial- and assembly halls

Task

The various areas of an industrial and assembly hall need to be illuminated with a RIDI LINIA continuous lighting system. Within the walk- and driveways as well as the small parts store (lower ceiling height), the lighting needs to be switched on and off by means of the motion sensors that are integrated into the continuous lighting system. Once there is no movement within the sensors’ detection field, the lighting remains at the maximum illumination level for a short time before dropping to a lower level and finally automatically switching off entirely shortly after. In the two production areas, the lighting is switched on and off via one push-button each. After switching on, the luminaires are also controlled depending on the amount of daylight by the sensors that are integrated into the continuous lighting system. In addition, it needs to be possible to dim and brighten the lighting individually and independently in the two production areas. The light values and the time that the light remains on in the areas with motion detection as well as the light values in the areas controlled by the amount of available daylight can be adjusted via a smartphone app.

APCON solution

The RIDI LINIA continuous lighting system LED gear trays are designed in DALI. The continuous lighting system above the walk- and driveway is controlled by the integrated APCON EASY master and slave sensors VLM SEN 500-11 PD4-M-DA-GH / PD4-S-R7, and the continuous lighting systems in the small parts store by the integrated APCON EASY master sensor VLMF SEN 500-11 PD4-M-DA, depending on motion. When no more movement is registered within the sensors’ detection fields, the lighting in the respective area remains switched on at the highest illumination level for an adjustable amount of time, after which the lighting switches down to an adjustable reduced value. After a further – also adjustable – period of time, the lighting in the area switches off fully automatically.

The lighting of the two production areas is switched on and off separately via the respective push-buttons (see notes in the sketch) and controlled via the respective APCON EASY master sensor VLM SEN 500-11 PD4-DA-GH-TL depending on the available daylight after switching on. In addition, the lighting in these two areas can be dimmed and brightened individually via the push-buttons. The continuous lighting systems along the walk- and driveways as well as along the aisles of the small parts warehouse can be regarded as self-sufficient DALI broadcast circuits (broadcast = all gear trays are contacted together and react in the same way) without being electrically connected to each other. The two continuous lighting systems in both production areas are electrically connected to each other and can also be considered as self-sufficient DALI broadcast circuits. Using a Bluetooth/infrared adapter and the corresponding smartphone app, the master
sensors’ light values and the length of time the lighting remains on can be conveniently set from the ground.
