Open space offices
Task
In an open space office, it needs to be possible to adapt the arrangement and layout of the work and functional areas to changing requirements. This includes being able to flexibly position partition walls as well as providing the same flexibility when it comes to the lighting and lighting control solution. It has to be possible to freely group the luminaires according to their areas, sensors, and operating elements. As such, you have to be able to freely place and flexibly assign push-buttons to the lighting groups.
To ensure the staff’s well-being, all lighting has to be controlled according to a configurable circadian daylight progression, switching between warm and cool white. At the entrances to the space, it needs to be possible to switch the lighting on and off in some areas using permanently installed push-buttons. The luminaires in the respective work and functional areas are controlled by motion and daylight, provided a sensor is assigned, and can also be switched on and off individually as well as dimmed and brightened using push-buttons. In the meeting area, you need to be able to switch the light on and off as well as dimming it and adjusting it to fixed scenes with the help of a suitable control element. Control elements that are placed outside the permanent outer walls, e.g., on the flexible partitions, have to work without an electrical connection. The entire system with all its lighting and lighting control components needs to be configurable via
a smartphone / tablet app.
APCON solution
The APCON EASY BLE solution shown here should be regarded as a snapshot because the luminaires with their APCON EASY BLE radio module, the APCON EASY BLE sensors, push-button couplers, push-buttons, and operating elements can be grouped and assigned completely freely via radio / Bluetooth Low Energy - BLE. This means that luminaire groups and assignments to sensors and control elements can be adapted to changing arrangements and divisions of the work and functional areas at any time. The configuration and assignment is conveniently done via the free Casambi smartphone / tablet app.
The circadian daylight pattern can also be configured and stored via the app. Up to four commercially available push-buttons can be integrated into the system via the APCON BLE-COP-A push-button coupler. These push-buttons can now be used to switch certain areas on and off. It is also possible to assign a central off switch for the entire office. The APCON BLE-SEN5-SC motion and daylight sensors control the assigned luminaires while these luminaires can be individually switched on and off or dimmed and brightened via the APCON BLESWITCH1 or APCON BLE-SWITCH2 push-buttons. The meeting area uses the APCON BLE-XPRESSW control element that can switch the assigned luminaires on and off as well as dimming and brightening them or switching between cool and warm white light. Further, 4 fixed scenes can be set via a push-button. All three control elements have one thing in common: there is no need to connect them electrically, which means they can be placed anywhere in the room.
