Open-plan offices
Task
An open-plan office and a corridor need to be illuminated with the RIDI LINIA continuous lighting system. The lighting in the corridor and management office needs to be switched on and off fully automatically via integrated motion sensors. After the last detected movement in the respective sensor’s detection area, the lighting remains at the maximum level for a period of time before dimming to a reduced value and then fully automatically switching off entirely a short time later. In the management office, after switching on, the lighting also needs to be controlled depending on the level of daylight. It needs to be possible to switch the two office areas on and off separately via a push-button at the entrance and it has to be possible to dim and brighten them individually. After switching on, the lighting of the respective area is controlled via a sensor depending on the amount of available daylight. The light values and the time that the light remains on in the areas with motion detection as well as the light values in the areas controlled by the amount of available daylight can be adjusted via a smartphone app.
APCON solution
The entire RIDI LINIA continuous lighting solution is configured in DALI. The continuous lighting system in the corridor is motion-controlled via the integrated APCON EASY master and slave sensors VLMF SEN 500-11 PD9-M-DA / PD9-S-R7. The continuous lighting system in the management office is motion- and daylight-controlled via the integrated APCON EASY Master Sensor VLMF SEN 500-11 PD9-M-DA. When no more movement is registered within the sensors’ detection field, the lighting in the respective area remains switched on at the highest illumination level for an adjustable amount of time, after which it switches down to an adjustable reduced value. After a further – also adjustable – period of time, the lighting in the area switches off fully automatically. In office areas 1 and 2, the lighting is switched on and off separately via the respective push-button at the entrance door and can also be dimmed and brightened individually. After switching on, the continuous lighting systems in both office areas are controlled via the integrated APCON EASY VLMF SEN 500-11 PD9-M-DA sensor (electrical connection between L and R has to be retrofitted), depending on the amount of daylight.
The continuous lighting system in the corridor and the management office can be regarded as self-sufficient DALI broadcast circuits (broadcast = all gear trays are contacted together and react in the same way) without being electrically connected to each other. The four continuous lighting systems in both office areas are electrically connected to each other and can also be considered as self-sufficient DALI broadcast circuits. Using a Bluetooth/infrared adapter and the corresponding smartphone app, the master sensors’ light values and the length of time the lighting remains on can be conveniently set from the ground.
